Shared bathroom cleaning

Hi,
I’ve seen that quite a lot of the accommodation at St Andrews is shared bathroom, and I was just wondering if the university usually cleans them or if it’s left down to the students (if so, how bad is it), or something in between.
Thanks
Normally in halls at most unis it's the students' responsibility to clean the common areas and it's expected they will organise themselves in doing so. This includes the kitchen and bathrooms.

That’s about what I expected to be honest, I had just seen that it worked differently in some other unis.

I think there is some level of cleaning at e.g. Oxbridge colleges although I don't know if that extends to cleaning shared or ensuite bathrooms. That's definitely not the norm as far as I'm aware though.

Hello, can I just ask if you're a current student at St Andrews or if you're from another uni, since while it seems to be a minority of unis, quite a few do seem to provide some level of cleaning in shared bathrooms (It seems to vary between daily, weekly, monthly or never depending on the uni), and I'd like to know specifically about St Andrews (though general information is still useful)

The principle applies across unis, if you want specific answers for a specific uni it would probably behoove you to look for the information yourself as well.

With a brief search you can find the information on the St Andrews website: https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/guides/clean-student-accommodation/

Which clearly indicates in line with the majority of UK unis it's the students responsibility to maintain the cleanliness of the flat including shared areas (incuding bathrooms) and there are regular inspections to ensure this is being carried out.
