I'm an undergraduate bioscience student who has been accepted for a research placement at UoTokyo, I have no idea what to expect as I've never been and don't even speak the language. If anyone has done a year/semester abroad in Japan, could you give me any advice?
hi I want to to go to Uni of Tokyo for exchange as well but sadly all the universities I am considering don't do that for the degree I want. How diffcult was it to get chosen to go on exchange? As far as I know, TokyoU is extremely diffcult to get into (more so than Oxbridge) and so I imagine the students there would be quite intense. I am in no place for advice but I think this website which is for univeristy reviews would be helpful, put it through google translate. https://www.minkou.jp/university/school/review/20180/

Hi there @turkisheggss , How exciting 🥳 congratulations on your acceptance for a study abroad placement, it sounds like an amazing opportunity to experience a different culture and broaden your horizons. I would recommend contacting your university's placement officer or academic staff to link you up with other students going to Japan for their placement year or perhaps even put you in contact with a senior who might have done a similar placement in Japan. They may be able to offer you tips regarding navigating the new environment and advice in regarding accommodation 🤗
