Why should you attend an Applicant Day?

Hi all,

If anyone has already attended any Open Days and is wondering why they should attend the Applicant Day, I thought I would advise on this.

No.1 - When you attend an Open Day, the sessions are more of a subject taster session. Whereas an Applicant Day provides a zoomed-in approach to the subjects we offer, including finding out about the relevant modules, and any practical areas/ labs you will use during your studies.

No.2 - Another reason to attend on Applicant Day is that you can meet other students who have also applied for that course. This could allow you to meet future classmates and even speak to them on the day.

No. 3 If you have attended an Open Day, then an Applicant Day will allow you to reconfirm your University choice. Something may click on the day and make you confirm your choice of University. As it is the 2nd visit, it enables you to make sure you are happy with the decision.

I wanted to post on here about an upcoming Applicant Day we have on Saturday, 28th February. So, if anyone has already attended an Open Day with us and has received an offer do book onto our Applicant Day.

I have linked the page below, if you are looking to attend - https://www.hope.ac.uk/applicantdays/

Any questions, do reach out.

All the best

Hi!

This is a great idea, so I just wanted to add a couple of my suggestions too of how to make the most of the day:

When you are there, make sure you speak to the student ambassadors as they have good insight into what it is actually like being at the uni and they can answer lots of your questions about accommodation, societies, the course etc!

Talk to the lecturers too as this is a great time to ask your questions and see what they have to say about the course and get any of your questions answered.

Talk to the other people that you are there with as they may be on your course so it will be nice to get a feel for them and get to know some of the people.

Have a look at some accommodations if they have tours as this is an ideal opportunity to see them and see which ones you like the look of to apply for.

See if there is anyone there to talk about societies and other similar things as these are great things to join and this is a good way to find out more about them.

I hope some of these help!

Lucy -SHU student ambassador 🙂
