Is accommodation first come first served Uni of Nottingham?

Hi, I'm really stuck between two of my choices which is Uni of Leeds and Nottingham. I want to attend offer holder days to help solidify my decision. I don't have an interview for my course until March with UON, so probably won't recieve an offer until a couple of weeks after. This is if I recieve one at all, this will be a moot point if I don't, haha. I feel like if I attend an Offer Holder Day it won't be until April minimum. I've heard accom is first come first served and worry that if I make UON my firm I'm going to have barely any options. When does UON accom tend to open to book, would having an unconditional make any difference? Any advice? Thanks.

Hello,

If you’re applying for the university’s student accommodation, there’s a set number of rooms that are reserved for first-year students. Most universities open accommodation applications in July or August, after A-level results are released. If this is the case, you won’t miss out on booking a room. You can check the exact opening dates for first-year students on the accommodation section of each university’s website.

Hi there Millie,

Accommodation usually opens from about early April onwards for those which are firm offer holders, but that doesn't mean there will be nothing available! We offer an Accommodation Guarantee to all applicants for their first year of study that they will be able to book a place in one of our University-arranged accommodation options - As well as the ability to cancel any booking with no penalty before the 31st August 2026 if you don't get the grades, decide to defer, or for any other reason do not take up your place with us.
Most early bookings are for those who have deferred or have already completed their A-Levels (or equivalent) and plenty of spaces are still available up until the main bookings happen around A-Level Results.

We can only offer bookings to those who are a Firm choice with us, regardless of status as conditional or unconditional. Insurance choices will be able to book on results day if they decide to go to us as their insurance choice (And thus become Unconditional Firm).

Bookings are first come first served, so we cannot guarantee a specific building will be available but you are guaranteed a place in one of our buildings. As a result, I'd encourage you to explore a few options at the Experience / Offer Holder Days and have a few buildings in mind you like so that come booking day you have a plan 😊 The booking form will ask for 3 preferences, so have at least that many in mind!

Take a look at our FAQ's Here for some more info, and there is also the contact details for our accommodation team who are more then happy to take questions.

Best of luck with your interview in March! We can't wait to meet you 😁

All the best,
#UoN Staff Rep Dan
