Hi @Yone0,

Thank you for showing interest in our online MSc Computer Science and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

Here is a quick overview of the course. As I'm sure you know, it is designed for working professionals and graduates from a wide range of backgrounds who don't necessarily have an undergraduate degree in computer science. It is ideal for those who are looking to transition into a career in computer science.
With the flexible online study, you can fit the programme around your existing work and personal commitments. This would be an ideal option for someone who wants to upskill without putting their life on hold.

Since you will be studying at the University of York, you be obtaining your degree from a Russell Group university. Our Department of Computer Science is highly regarded for graduate outcome, ranking 13th in the UK for graduate prospects (Times Good University Guide 2026).

If you would like some more specific advice, I would recommend getting in touch with [email protected] who will be able to answer any questions with much more detail than I can provide.

Something to bear in mind, if you already come from a background in computer science, then I would suggest that this is probably not the type of course you should be pursuing, and I would recommend that you check out one of our classroom based programmes instead
