Speech and Language Therapy MMU

Good afternoon, I was looking to apply for an MSc Speech and Language Pre-Registration 2 year course and Manchester Metropolitan University, however I am slightly confused on the funding section. Am I able to apply for Student Finance for a Postgraduate Course as well as meet the criteria for the NHS Training Grant, or would one override the other? Any help would be much appreciated thank you!

Hi there, for to assist you with your query please answer the following questions:

MSc Speech and Language (Pre-Registration)
Manchester Metropolitan University
2 year course

Is this a Full Time or Part Time course?
How many years of previous study have you studied so far?
When are you planning to start your studies?

Thank you, Stephen.

Hi Stephen,

It is a full time course and I have 3 previous years of study at Bangor University studying Childhood and Youth studies that I completed in June 2025. I was considering starting this year but I understand if the deadline has passed, the information would be helpful as a guide for the next application period thank you!!

Hi again, thank you for providing further information. The course you have advised is an undergraduate exemption course.
This is applied for through the Undergraduate application (but at the end of your course you walk out with a Postgraduate qualification). This would not have any impact on applying for the NHS Learning Support Fund (NHS LSF) as this is a separate award provided through the NHS themselves.

I have provided the link above for the expected launch for the undergraduate applications for courses starting from September 2026. Stephen

Sorry another question quickly, does this mean I will receive the undergraduate amount of funding instead of postgraduate?

Hi again, yeah, we would look to assess your application under the Undergraduate support criteria (Tuition fees, maintenance loan and supplementary grants (if applicable). Stephen
