Have you visited them at all?

I've had several students study Law at Exeter; all have been happy there.

Congratulations on the offers from Notts, York and Exeter - you should be proud as they are three strong options. :yep: Law is a competitive course and Manchester is very popular so you won't be the only one who hasn't received an offer. Try to put it behind you and think about what you want from the unis you have received offers from.

If you are a home student, do go the offer-holder days to have another look at the departments and unis and to ask staff and students questions about the courses in detail. Compare the modules and optional modules for all years of the course and think about what you would pick if you went there. Do any give you an option to study abroad? This can add a lot to your graduate CV.

Then think about the locations and what you want from the cities. If you wish, I can tag in some official reps so that they can share their experience of attending these unis.

York have a unique type of teaching for law (PBL). Would it suit you?
@University of York @Uni of Notts @ExeterStudentRep Can you share your experience of studying at your university to help the OP?

Hi there!!

Students at University of Nottingham seem to enjoy the whole campus experience. Beside the excellent education, the campus is very green and pretty and there are lots of clubs and societies, that if you have an interest you would most likely find a club or society to pursue it. There are three campuses and two of them are just 20 mins from the city centre by tram and bus and the main University campus is close to Beeston town. This combined allows you to tailor your university experience to what you want it to be. You can be located in a quiet area and enjoy the tranquillity or you can be very busy with socialising and sports, enjoying the David Ross Sport Centre and taking advantage of the clubs and societies on offer. There is a shuttle bus which is free for students and takes students from campus to campus.

Students have praised the support they have received from staff and students alike.

Hi! I am in my final year of psychology at UoN and i really enjoy it here! Coming from London, i find Nottingham as a whole to be a perfect mix of city but also quiet enough that I can walk through country parks and really take a breather.

Alongside my studies, where tutors are very supportive and attentive, I also work for the university across various departments. I find that in all of my jobs my colleagues and managers are so helpful and really great to work with ! Nottingham is full of lovely people!

There are loads of societies too to choose from, and I met some of my best friends through joining a sports one in my 2nd year. Nottingham itself has lots of different restaurants to try, cool bars and cosy pubs, and also generally interesting things such as museums, the national ice centre and the caves!

I am so glad I chose UoN!

Hiya!

Congratulations on your offers, you should be very proud. Those are some great options so it’s amazing to hear you’re considering Exeter!

Exeter is a very strong uni for law - our course ranks in the Top 15 in the UK as well as Top 10 for graduate prospects. Alongside the quality of the teaching, there are useful extracurricular activities like mooting competitions, pro bono opportunities such as judicial shadowing and research assistance, and a variety of work placements. These ensure you gain practical skills and build confidence in real world scenarios - this sort of hands-on experience is invaluable to potential employers. The academic and pastoral teams here are amazing across all facilities so if you need any extra support there’s always someone available to help. You may also be interested in joining our Law society which is a great way to meet people on your course and make some fast friends to attend socials with. I’m a Natural Sciences student myself but if you’d like some first hand information about personal experience with the course feel free to visit our Unibuddy page and find a law student to chat with: Ask a Current Student

Regarding general student life at Exeter, I can definitely give some insight. Outside of academic societies, we have over 300 others covering a wide range of sports, cultures, activities and interests, so it’s incredibly easy to find like-minded people. The city centre is very social and bustling but has plenty of green spaces, cute cafes, and quaint little independent shops too. It’s got historic areas and attractions like the cathedral, the Quayside (perfect for an evening walk), and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum. Equally, there’s a wide variety of shops, bars, clubs and other modern amenities which make it a really fun and convenient place to live. Of course we’re also close to Dartmoor which is perfect if you’re someone who loves to hike or be in nature. One of my favourite things about the area is the proximity to the beach - it’s only a 20-30min train journey away and is such a fun way to destress after summer exams or deadlines. There are also lots of little coastal towns and villages to explore like Topsham, Sidmouth and Teignmouth which are easily accessible by train, making for great days out.

Altogether, Exeter uni is a great option for a strong, practical law course, in a lovely area of the UK with a friendly community and a vibrant social scene - you’ll be sure to really get the most of your uni experience here. Attending open days is the best way to get a feel for the uni and the city, as well as the course, to see if it suits you. Let me know if you have any more questions and good luck with your decision!
