Warwick Uni EPIS

Hi. I’m really worried. I declined PPE at Warwick in 2025 and reapplied for EPIS for 2026 as I really want to do it. I have A* Politics; A* History and A Economics. Also an A* in my EPQ on the role of the UN, not that matters for Warwick! Am I going to get rejected and should I have stuck with PPE given I don’t have maths? Anyone doing EPIS without maths and dropping a grade in Economics?

Hey, try not to panic your grades are really strong! Warwick’s EPIS course doesn’t require A-level Maths, so not having it isn’t a problem. Your A*s in Politics, History, Economics, and your EPQ show that you’re capable of the kind of critical thinking and research EPIS looks for.
Dropping a grade in Economics isn’t automatically a dealbreaker either. Warwick tends to look at your overall potential and fit for the course rather than focusing on just one subject.
A couple of things that might help:

Make sure your personal statement clearly explains why EPIS is the right course for you and how your subjects/EPQ prepare you for it.

Highlight skills like essay writing, analysis, and research those really stand out.

Honestly, switching from PPE isn’t a mistake if EPIS fits you better. Lots of people apply to EPIS without Maths and do really well, so your profile is still strong.

The course doesn't require maths and you exceed the entry requirements of A*AA. Try not to worry - Warwick takes its time to make decisions.

Hi!

I can’t say much on admissions unfortunately as a student ambassador, but I'm currently in my final year studying an economics joint-degree so happy to answer any questions you might have about the course! I’m not doing EPAIS but have done many of the same core econ modules as students on the course.

Best wishes,
Jasmine (Student Ambassador)

First of all, it’s normal to feel worried, but your grades aren’t weak at all. AAA is strong, and Politics and History fit EPIS quite well.

Not having Maths can feel stressful, but EPIS isn’t a purely economics course. It’s more political and international in focus, so not everyone has Maths. Dropping a grade in Economics isn’t ideal, but it’s not automatically disqualifying either.

The fact that you reapplied because you genuinely prefer EPIS actually makes sense. It shows clearer direction. At this point, it’s really just about waiting. It’s definitely not an obvious rejection.
