My revision seems pointless. This may be a stupid question but i start my revision off by blurting, going off the spec and using chem revise to update my notes.

I then move on to exam questions. This is my weakness . I spend around an hour[pomodoro] doing exam questions for the topic that I was revising and I was getting every other question wrong. Whether it was getting the exact mark scheme wording wrong in my answer,I struggle with producing a answer good enough for the mark scheme.I feel like im wasting my time as Im just getting the questions wrong again and again and it feels like when I apply my knowledge in exam questions, the mark scheme always catches me out.
Is it normal to struggle with this at the art and will it get better the more I practice other topics?
My biggest concern right now is moving on to the next topic and not being satisfied with how I left the previous one, getting answers wrong.Am I efficeintly revsing what am I doing wrong?

for every question you get wrong, put it into a quizlet (etc.) with the perfect answer. start every day by doing that quizlet. You will soon learn the right phrasing!

Hey @sususususussss,

You've mentioned that you keep getting caught out by the mark scheme - therefore, it could be useful to use the mark scheme itself as a revision tool. Write down any definitions/explanations found on the mark scheme separately and revise that in addition to the topic content itself.

I think it's also important to differentiate whether you're wording your answers differently to the mark scheme or having completely different answers altogether. Most students won't have wording that aligns exactly with the mark scheme, but the important thing at this stage in your revision is grasping the content and figuring out what exactly each question is asking you. Are you on the right train of thought when answering past paper questions, or are you struggling with the questions themselves?

Finally, no revision is pointless. Every little bit you do counts, and in a few months you'll hopefully see it pay off. 🙂

Hope this helps and best of luck with your Chemistry revision,
Eve (Kingston Rep).
