Oxbridge or Degree Apprenticeship?

What is better? A STEM degree at oxbridge (I am aiming for Cambridge) or a degree apprenticeship within a STEM-based role at a big firm. Honestly, I know it may seem like an obvious choice (oxbridge), but getting into the job field early may be better - especially if it's a good placement at an elite firm - no?

P.S. I am torn between Maths, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering, so if anyone does degrees related to this, I would appreciate it if you talked about your degree please.

hi, my advice is apply to both! apply to oxbridge along with as many degree apprenticeships as you think look exciting and you have the time to make a high-quality application for. every year, people with amazing profiles get rejected from both routes, so it’s best to keep your options open. if you get into both, you can choose which feels right (this is usually easier after you’ve gone through the interview processes and you have the offers in front of you). if you don’t get into one route, the decision is made for you! either route will be helpful for your future career.

I chose DA over uni as I wanted to get a ‘foot in the door’. Completed the DA last year and now will be starting a Masters degree related to Computer Science at Cambridge uni if that helps.

I found it to be not a question of ‘which is better’ but rather how does each option align to my short term and long term goals. E.g. DA made more financial sense for me at the time

I would go for the degree apprenticeship.
You get a job, gain valuable experience, will be earning money, you still get the qualification, usually the company pays for the degree, no student debt etc.
Deffo go for the apprenticeship.

If you decide to go for Engineering then Oxbridge is not the place to go - an apprenticeship would be better.
