RVC hold 2026

Hi 👋 I’m a postgraduate applicant who applied for the 4 and 5 year at RVC, I thankfully received an offer for the 5 year but have been put on hold for the 4 year. I have seen lots of others who have also been put on hold across both courses and thought it would be a good idea to make a thread specific to people on hold for RVC 2026 entry to chat, get updates on what’s happening with on hold applicants and support each other! Fingers crossed we get offers 🤞

Year 13, Yesterday

Yeah I heard about it yesterday too, have u applied anywhere else or got any other offers? It’s a good sign to be put on hold in the first place as it’s really competitive particularly for home students and most people get rejected outright so well done for getting this far, so while it’s not an offer yet please don’t feel discouraged you should be proud of yourself🤗

That’s really good, again please don’t be discouraged it’s hard for year 13s all going in with A levels especially when 1) it’s hard to get work experience when you’re younger and 2) it’s daunting doing interviews in the RVC style so he really proud of yourself that you’ve come this far, what other universities have you applied to ? 😊

i applied to rvc surrey glasgow and edinburgh.. i do have one offer from surrey but it’s still so stressful, i was kind of ready for a definite answer on whether i got in or not, so now im overthinking even more! x

Surrey is another brilliant university they have lots of facilities and lab stuff as well as very friendly lecturers at the end of the day the fact you got onto any vet course is very impressive it is no easy task and even if it’s not your top one at the end of the day you’re still going to be a vet! it is annoying being stuck waiting and not knowing but the fact that they decided to put you on hold rather than reject you demonstrates that you are a strong applicant x

That’s amazing well done for getting in to Surrey! Yeah it is a bit annoying especially if you plan to live on campus, i would suggest using to time that your waiting to try to do as much research into accommodation as possible so your not sitting worrying about what’s happening with your application and talking to RVC and Surrey about when accommodation applications are open etc.

Hello, I applied to Liverpool (rejection), Bristol (rejection), RVC, Aberystwyth and the RVC gateway. I am hoping being put on hold for the 5 year course will translate to something good for the gateway but not holding hope. I am just hating the wait lol. I heard from RVC yesterday.

I’m sorry to hear about being unsuccessful at Liverpool and Bristol but it’s not a reflection on you just that there are too many students trying to get into the few vet schools in the UK with a lack of spaces, well done for getting this far though with RVC and your other choices! Vet med isn’t a straight forward journey for many and it can easy to focus on the negatives rather than the positives, don’t give up hope and there’s always a way to be a vet even if it’s not the typical route! 😊

Thank you for the kind words. If nothing else comes out of it, this application cycle was a great learning experience for me to go ahead and apply again next year.

That’s ok 🤗 that’s exactly the right attitude to have, there’s nothing wrong with reapplying next year and if anything you’ll be an even stronger applicant because you’ll know what to expect
