when/how should i retake my a levels?

Hi, im a first year nursing student who achieved really low scores in my science A levels 2025 and I really want to retake them. Considering I am going to have placement every year for the next 3 years, when and how can I retake my a levels as I believe they are neccessary in the future? Is retaking them worth it? Was very disappointed with the grades during results day as it feels like my hard work didnt pay off.

Are A-Levels actually important for your future now? They're usually more the stepping stone for uni or apprenticeships and so once you're at uni they usually kind of lose their importance a bit.

However if you still want to resit them, you need to find a private exam centre that will accept you (check here to find local ones to you: https://www.jcq.org.uk/private-candidates/ ), amd then make sure you're available to sit the exams, usually in June. I believe you may me just about in the nick of time to register for this upcoming June's exam season, but that would be very unwise as you have very little time to prepare for them. Probably best to try next year and try to balance your degree, your placements and your A-level revision as best you can, which won't be a very fun thing to do, so again, best avoided if resitting your A-levels is not so important anymore.

i'm not sure why you would want to retake your Alevels when you are already on your degree course? if you want a clinical career your future NHS employers aren't going to be employing you based on your A levels they are looking at your degree and other factors (nursing didn't become an all degree entry profession until 2009,there's plenty of good nurses still working who don't have strong academic backgrounds). I would focus on doing as well as possible in your degree instead, i think you will have more than enough to contend with ,with your studies and placements, there's lots of amazing things to learn that you will be putting into practise. Is it more of a personal disappointment do you think or have you heard/read anything that makes you think they would be important to your particular career trajectory?

Have you got into uni?
If you are at uni, then i wouldnt retake them. You have already got into uni. It doesnt matter now what grades you have.
