does anyone like their Loop earbuds?

might be a strange question, but i’ve gotten really sensitive to noise recently and i was in edinburgh this week (one of my top choice cities for uni) and spent the whole day just wanting to cry, walking around with my hands over my ears

granted, we were in the city centre so naturally it was going to be louder due to street performers etc but if i do end out going there for uni, im not sure i’ll be able to cope with that as a regular thing

even just being in school even right now, its so LOUD

i do have noise cancelling airpods which i use a lot, but i dont think they’re exactly appropriate for constant use

so without without looking, i was on pinterest and found an ad for Loops (and god they’re not cheap are they?) and was wondering if anyone had left right or centre to say? i don’t want to spend any crazy amount of money on things just because they have a name i recognise

I find loop earplugs to be really effective and comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

i saw some reviews of people saying speaking was really painful? like it was reverberating in their head

and do you know which model you have? i can’t decide which is best - especially when there’s a wide range in price

I have hyperacusis (noise sensitivity ) and tinnitus ....and this resulted and shaped how I go out side. For the past few years I have used industrial /construction Ear defenders. My audiologist was one who told me about the loop ear. I personally found they do take dBs of noise.(I tend to find my self losing them.. the ear buds).I bought the loop quiet 2. Over past 4/5 years and last 2/3 of them undergoing sound therapy my audiologist has suggested not to completely block out sounds and loops (the specific one I brought) did take down a notch on the volume. I would say talk to your GP/ENT & Audiologist

yeah i don’t want to not hear anything at all, i just want to take the edge off of what i am hearing

i did consider regular ear defenders but honestly (from a vanity perspective) they’re really clunky, and seem to hold a sign over your head like “look at this guy!!” whereas Loops seem a lot more discrete

i might speak to my GP, but we don’t get along and i doubt i’d get anything useful out of her, which is why i came online to hear other peoples experiences. i don’t think i have any condition actually warranting earbuds/Loops, so i think GP’d be a lost cause

the thing is that ive also seen reviews about finding speaking and whatnot painful cause you can hear “inside noises” kind of bashing about your skull a lot more

I have only used the Experience earplugs. I used them for a concert and fireworks. Getting them over the summer meant I was able to watch fireworks in person for the first time in years (i.e. pre-Covid) as well as go to my first concert. I found them amazing. I used the small inserts and they give a noticeable drop in noise. I got the cheaper one and have had no issues with them.

I had a friend with autism in sixth form and she used the loop earplugs all the time. She had them on all day in classes, but could still have conversations with people. Unless you were next to her, you couldn't tell she was using them.

I can't remember their return policy, but you should be able to buy them, try them out and return them if they don't work. I know there are other brands, but they seem to have worse reviews/features than loop. I agree they are easy to loose. I have caribbeners (spelt wrong) attached to my bag (I like to distract myself when anxious by using them as a fidget basically) or I put them in a small bag with my various meds that I carry with me everywhere.

My partner can be a bit sensitive to noise/over stimulation and she really likes Loops, the last ones I got her were the Experience 2 but I couldn't really tell you much about different types.

She's had a few sets over the last couple of years and never mentioned any issues with talking etc.

The sleep ones are great for background noise, but they make speech very muffled. The engage ones don't case any issues with hearing speech but do very little for background noice. I haven't tried any of the other ones. I guess it really depends on what your preferences are. They are very comfortable to wear, and I can barely feel them when I have them in (unlike headphones). I got mine on eBay, where they were cheaper than their website.

Happy to answer any questions in you have any about the sleep to the engage model.
