Durham College choices

Have had my offer for about a month now and was waiting for the open day to rank my colleges, thinking it wouldn't matter how long I took as long as it was before May. But I've seen a tiktok or two now of people saying they've had their allocations. Am I better off ranking my college preferences now to have the best chance at my first choice?
Have also filled out the question form on the website and haven't had a reply for a few days now, as well as ringing the question line, which is directing me to live chat feature I can't seem to find.
Thank you very much

Hi there!

Durham University college allocations are not given on first-come, first-served based on when you submit your preferences, meaning that regardless of when you rank them, everybody will be equally considered. If you want to read more about the allocation process, you can do so here: https://www.durham.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/how-to-apply/durhams-colleges-and-your-application/.

As for the question form, it's likely a very busy period for the admissions team, so experiencing delays is normal. 😊 I know it can be frustrating waiting for a response, but it will come through.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions about studying at Durham!
