Is Welsh Bacc worth it?

Honestly, I absolutely hate A levels. I can't stand my subjects but I've been doing them for too long to actually change any of them. I've been trying to stay on top of everything, but Welsh Bacc just keeps dragging me back down. The workload is insane and it's so time consuming. Admittedly, I've been struggling with my mental health a lot recently and I've been skipping lessons because of it, making my attendance really bad. Obviously, I'm not helping myself by doing this and I'm now more far behind than ever.

For a while now, I've been thinking of dropping the subject altogether. I know that if I didn't have Welsh Bacc to worry about, I could easily get good results next year in year 13. I'm quite conflicted though because i've seen some people saying that it's a useless subject and to drop it, but others are saying that dropping a subject will just make me look bad and it'll prevent me from getting accepted by unis. To be honest, I don't even know if I want to go to uni yet. I'm just trying to get through A levels first. Luckily, my sixth form is quite lenient, so I don't think that dropping the subject would be much of a problem. I'm just not sure. Should I just drop it?

Honestly, if Welsh Bacc is the thing pushing you into burnout and your attendance/mental health is taking a hit, dropping it can be the sensible move as long as your main A-levels stay strong. Most unis mainly care about your 3 A-level grades and meeting the course requirements, not the Welsh Bacc.
Speak to your tutor/pastoral team ASAP so it’s recorded as wellbeing + workload, not “lack of effort,” and get a plan in place.
And if uni is still a “maybe,” don’t panic, there are supportive options like Canterbury Christ Church University, where student wellbeing and getting back on track is taken seriously. You can visit our website to know as a university on this link - Home - Canterbury Christ Church University
