Which unis are best for Dental Therapy?

I’m interested in Dental Therapy and Hygiene and have D*D*D in my BTEC Level 3. I’m looking at Huddersfield and Bolton, but open to other options too. Would love advice from current students: what’s your experience like and would you recommend your uni? 😊🦷

Teaching Hospitals ARE the best option > lookin at Huddersfield & Bolton - either side of the Penines (Yorkshire & Manchester) so location is NOT important to you and your needs

Hi! I’m a current student at Teesside University, and if you’re looking at Dental Therapy & Hygiene, I’d definitely recommend checking our course out!

Teesside University was named Times Higher Education University of the Year 2025, recognising the amazing work of staff, students, and the wider community. So you’d be studying somewhere that’s really thriving!

The dental programme is super hands-on and practical, it’s split roughly 50/50 between theory and practice. You start in the Phantom Head Skills Lab, which is great for practising your clinical skills safely, and then move on to the Student Dental Facility, treating real patients with guidance from supportive supervisors.

Some highlights:

Modern facilities & small class sizes, so lots of one-to-one support.

Supportive staff, and approachable lecturers who genuinely help you build confidence.

Direct patient experience which prepares you well for careers in dental practice, hospitals, or community services.

Highly rated, with 84–91% positive feedback for teaching, facilities, and student experience.

GDC-accredited, which meets all professional requirements.
