LJMU PGCE primary interviews

I've got my Primary PGCE interview for LJMU coming up and I'm a bit nervous. I was wondering what kind of questions they ask during the interview. It would really help me to prep.

Hi there,

Congratulations on reaching the interview stage for the Primary PGCE at LJMU.

As LJMU Student Reps, we don’t know the interview questions, but the PGCE course page has some useful guidance for applicants, which I’ve copied below:

Applicants will be assessed for their:

depth of relevant subject knowledge

potential to work effectively at Masters level

ability to work with others in teams

ability to manage people and projects

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate:

an interest and enthusiasm for their chosen subject area

the ability to make learning exciting and meaningful to young people in a range of contexts

commitment to supporting learners in areas of challenging social context

enthusiasm and resilience

It can be helpful to think of examples that demonstrate these qualities.

Hope this helps with your preparation, and best of luck with your interview 🙂

Hi! I’ve recently had an interview at LJMU for primary + QTS, I’m not sure if they’ll be exactly the same but I presume they will be similar. The questions the interviewer asked me were your basic “why do you want to be a teacher?” “What qualities are important for a teacher to have/ what do you think you have that will make you a good teacher?” “Why LJMU?” And the one that got me was “if you had a ball of string, what could you do with it?” On an educational base… I think I just said measure objects around the room and you could use it in art/ design technology as well. That one really threw me off guard though ahaha.
I hope this helped and good luck with your interview!
