Will I be placed in a mature flat at uni?

So I’ll be starting at Uni of Leeds at 22 (worked a few years). Will I be placed with other mature students/people who’ve done gap years? I know there’s quiet accommodation, but I still want somewhere sociable with people who like going out.

I know I’ll feel out of place in a flat of 18yo’s
I don't think there's any mechanism normally for this unless there are mature student/postgraduate only accommodation blocks you can apply for. You'd probably be placed in a randomly assigned flat if not in a studio or applying for e.g. some mature student/postgraduate specific accommodation.

I think when you fill out the accommodation form they will most likely take into account how old you are. I'm also a mature student attending University of Leeds this year but I'm sure they are likely to take into account what you want and may put you with some other students around your age

22 might be technically a mature student but in reality it isn’t that much older than many freshers. Someone who spent just one year resitting at college could still be 20, and international students are often a little older. Beyond the first few weeks when those living away from home for the first time are finding their feet, personality will probably have a bigger impact than age. Despite filling in forms purporting to ensure you are matched with similar individuals, it is pretty random and it is not uncommon to find you have nothing in common with any of your flatmates. You are more likely to find friends on your course as you all have a shared interest.

No. I rented a studio flat for 3 years to avoid this. I lived with 19/20 year olds in uni accom for a year it wasn't actually that bad or that big of a deal but flatmates are really luck of the draw I think. Everyone in my flat just kept to themselves.
