Should I go with intercalated year?

I’ve been accepted into Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen medical schools - of which Edinburgh is the only 6 year degree. I had always planned to go to Edinburgh, but now I’m starting to second guess. Is it worth doing the intercalated year?

Hello! I am also an offer holder for medicine at Edinburgh- so maybe I won't be helpful as a current student but I can offer my perspective. I feel as if medicine is already a very lengthy career in terms of training- life long learning and whatever as I am sure you've already drilled into yourself for the interviews. And I think one year really won't make a difference since you can't fast-track your way into a career in medicine. Plus I think having one year to expand one's mind and explore areas that the busy world of medicine distracts from would be great! Having spoken to a medstudent there, he said that he had done his third year at imperial because edinburgh did not offer his subject of choice when intercalating- which I think it's a great opportunity. I don't think it should deter you from going- but either way you'll end up with a med degree wherever you'll go! good luck :smile:
