Funding for re qualification

Hi,

I’m looking to re qualify as a nutritionist after a head injury, which is preventing me from returning to a career in law (I studied a law degree and professionally qualification many years ago to pursue this career, so this would be a second degree)

I am struggling to work out what funding would be available to me to re-qualify. I understand that dietetics / nutrition may be considered an allied health course, so may attract some funding.

I also have difficulty using a computer because of my brain injury so would need a course that I could listen to, with just small amounts of computer based work. Do you have a recommendations regarding universities that might offer this? It would be classified as a disability so I believe some adaptation of courses might be possible.

Finally - I was wondering if there might be any funding available specifically to support people needing to requalify after brain injury / disability?

Thank you so much

Hi Samantha,

We don't recommend universities, this would be up to the student to research this and speak to different universities what courses they can offer to best suit you.

We normally don't fund second degrees but if your new course is one of our exception courses, then you may be eligible for further funding. Full time Dietetics and nutrition is one of the exceptions so should be eligible for further funding regardless of previous study.

We also offer Disable Student Allowance which you can find more information on our website here https://www.gov.uk/disabled-students-allowance-dsa

Thanks,
Claire
