Haven’t received any offers yet, should I send an email.

I applied to Manchester, Edinburgh and Kings for psych on the 14th of jan and I haven’t heard anything, its been radio silent.
I want to send an email to admissions but I’m not sure exactly what I should say. I’d appreciate any help

hi ann,

It’s not a bad thing having not heard anything yet. I would say definitely email them on it to get status update so then you aren’t completely in the dark. Being ghosted doesn’t mean rejection or anything, these are highly prestigious unis so the chances of them ghosting you into rejection is super unlikely. it may just be because they’ve received so many applications that yours is at the back of the queue, they will eventually get around to it.

good luck with everything and i hope you hear back from them soon!

Hi Ann,

As above, its nothing to worry about if you're yet to receive offers. You can by all means email the unis for a status update but they'll most likely just tell you that they're still processing your application and to bear with them - remember that how long you wait for your decision has no bearing whatsoever on how strong your application is.

Plus, as Psychology is quite a popular course across the board, the number of applications those unis will have got will be very high, and as most unis will have a rigorous process for going through each application this can take a lot of time. Your unis will mostly be aiming to reply to you by the end of March.

You will hear back - just bear with your unis 🙂

Hope some of this helps!

r u serious? the deadline for decisions didnt even pass yet, if u got ucas confirmation emails that means they will see ur application at some point...
no point "emailing them" it wont make it any faster + they r competitive unis & kings is known to be slow.
also u applied very close to the deadline so not their fault for making a slow offer cos who even applies that near to the deadline - it's ur career
if u have applied before december half term, u would have probably heard back from almost all of them
what are ur stats

Many many students apply close to the deadline - it's not an issue.

You have applied at the busiest time of year and it is not unusual to have not heard anything yet. You have also applied to a popular course at popular unis, and they have until May to reply to you. Emailing for a status update isn't worthwhile - it only increases the workload in already busy admissions departments.

ik its not an issue in terms of decisions.
but obviously a person who applies closer to the deadline would receive an offer slower than a person who applied earlier so it is a big issue in terms of time. and OP here is overacting about the time

Many applicants who applied in October are still waiting for decisions. It varies by course and uni, but some uni wait until the January deadline has passed before making any offers.

no, most applicants applied in october heard back from multiple unis or have received interviews. also, many people have already received offers from the course from the same unis OP has applied to. in most cases, for non competitive courses if u apply early, u will hear back early, whether an interview/offer.
Because if u use ur common sense, there will be fewer applications at the start so they can make decisions quicker
but OP here is crying for not hearing back although they have applied that closer to the deadline. so there r probably many last minute applicants just like OP that applied there so unis will take their time cos they already gave offers to the best applicants

Hi, I’m not sure why youre being rude. There is a reason it is called an equal consideration deadlines. It doesn’t matter if I applied in September or in January, my application has to be considered EQUALLY. I’m just asking as many people i know who applied with me have heard back from their unis )

yeah just ignore that preciousdiamond person, they seem to be leading a very sad little life and wanting to spread their misery onto anxious students who are probably way younger than them. what a bully. hope you hear back and get all offers

yea,.. it is STILL equal consideration, i never said it isnt. point is, when u apply that close to the deadline, you must expect offers late. i.e. i applied early and heard and got offers within a week from majority of my unis, 2 of which are kings and manchester, and i applied for an even more competitive course than psychology, with like 1 in 7 acceptance rate (for kings)
the point im trying to convey is, although its still equal consideration, they will make offers quicker if u apply quicker, with strong stats cos i heard back from both of those unis within a week, since early applicants = unis have fewer applications to deal with so u hear back quicker. and for psychology u would have heard back sooner since it isnt competitive

you emailing them and doing jumping jacks wont make them get any faster is what im tryna say.
like what will u even email them? to work faster?
so in a hypothetical scenario, if u apply at least a week before the december half term, you would have heard back from them (manchester and kings). kings even stated this on my email

Thank you 🙂 I have sent an email to their admissions team. I have a bit of documentation problems aswell so I wanted to make sure that wasnt the issue.
