My Role as a Student Ambassador at Norwich Uni Arts

Hi there!

Inspired by @Kingston Grace, I've decided to do a post about some of the various roles I've had during my time as a student ambassador so far.

Accommodation Tours - this is my favourite job of all! Each time an open day is held for our uni, I try to work on the accommodation tours. I really enjoy getting to meet prospective students and their families and showing them all around my old student digs from first year. I love talking about living in Norwich and it's so lovely to tour such an incredible building.

Walking Tours / Course Campus Tours - these require taking larger groups of prospective students and families around the uni campus and showing off the learning facilities. This one is also very fun - but so annoying when the weather is bad! Also pressure to be done within a specific time frame... very difficult when there's a lot to show! But still very fun and I do enjoy getting to show everyone where I learn.

Mail-out Shifts - Again, LOVE these shifts... there are only a couple available each year, but getting to sit around a table with fellow ambassadors to package up and address envelopes to send out to our applicants is so fun - a very chilled role and a great excuse to listen to a very long podcast!

Gradfest Invigilator - Gradfest is our annual graduate showcase event. With so much incredible work to be displayed across all subjects throughout at least 4 of our largest buildings, it's only obvious that invigilators are needed to not only assist with the set-up and take-down, but also the welcoming and helping visitors throughout the 2 weeks and invigilating the displays. I've worked this event once and loved every second! It was an awesome way to see all of the great work and meet so many people.

TSR and UniBuddy - this !! Working on this platform, as well as the UniBuddy platform is another huger highlight for me. I love to write blogs about life as a student and share my experiences with you all - as well as help put and reassure anyone. It's been an honour to work on here and I continue to love every second.

That's all for me personally - and I am really enjoying my job. I love the choice in hours and it's super flexible around my studies. There are however sooooooo many more roles that are available when working as a student ambassador! So I'd highly recommend looking into it if any of you are able.

Are you already one? What has your favourite job been so far?

Love this post Charlotte, it’s so nice seeing what other unis get up to as ambassadors!
I definitely agree about tours being one of the best parts of the role. There’s something really rewarding about meeting prospective students and their families and being able to give them honest advice from your own experience. I always find the questions you get asked are so different each time as well which keeps it interesting.
Mail out shifts sound so chilled I’m a bit jealous 😭 we don’t get many of those but anything where you can sit with other ambassadors and just chat while getting stuff done is always a win.
I also completely relate to the flexibility side of things. Being able to work around lectures and deadlines makes such a difference, especially during busy periods.
It’s honestly one of the best uni jobs you can have in my opinion. Would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about getting involved.

Thank you !!

haha yesss, the mail-outs are so fun. And I totally agree about the questions being asked! Such a variation and really fun to answer.

It's also really fun being someone who doesn't drink - as I get to give some very different insights into 'student life' when people ask about the stereotypical night life!
