MA Social Work - NHS Bursary

I am in the process of applying for an MA Social Work. I have an undergraduate and a postgrad that I did in the past and have used SFE. I realised that I did a huge mistake and now regret even studying for the degrees I did. I have checked online and SFE can't fund another postgraduate qualification for me.
I am told I can apply for an NHS bursary. I wondered if with the NHS bursary covers my whole tuition fees? More, how can I make sure I get the funding, what is the criteria? I have lived in the UK for over 18 years, single mother and on Universal credit.
What are my chances if being awarded or get the bursary. I am desperate to turn my life around and get into social work.
Please advise.

I'm moving your thread to the Ask SFE forum as I recall that some social work courses may be classed as an exception course for maintenance loan. An official SFE/SLC rep will be able to advise you.

In terms of the Social Work bursary, all the information you need is here:

Hi there,

We at Student Finance England have no say in how the NHS Bursaries are awarded: that's entirely up to the NHS.

So, we'd definitely recommend speaking to the NHS about this directly.

You can find out more by following the link below.

Thanks, Graeme

Hi Graeme

I moved the thread so that you could advise on if the OP would eligible for any funding from SFE given that they have previous study, but also as Social Work can be considered as an exception course for maintenance loan. Is this correct?

Hi The Mrs Jolly,

If you already hold a masters degree you would be right in saying you would not be eligible for a Postgraduate Loan due to holding an equal level qualification. Please refer to the reply from Graeme as you would need to contact the correct awarding body regarding external support.

Thanks, Clare
