Edinburgh vs Durham reputation

Hi, considering Edinburgh and Durham next year with an offer from both.

Does anyone know which of these two tends to have post-degree students do better in fields like finance and banking, or consultancy?

IE would employers in the uk favour one over the other?

Durham is better in my opinion.

Your future and prospects depend on you, not the name of the uni you attended.

You may choose the uni on your own personal preference (course content, city life etc). If financially viable, a 4-year uni life might be preferable. Good luck.

I don't think either are target unis for investment banking or management consulting, and pretty much every other job doesn't care what uni you went to.

I would focus on more concrete matters such as course structure, options, teaching/assessment formats, location and accommodation offerings, and facilities/clubs/other uni activities available, as well as cost of living in each location.

Hello,

Looking at the employability and career statistics for finance students:

15 months after the course, 80% of accounting and Finance graduates at Durham University say they are using what they learnt during their studies in their current work.

Alumni hold prestigious positions with global leaders such as EY, PwC, Morgan Stanley, China Development Bank, Société Générale, Amazon, Deloitte, KPMG, and Bank of America.

Average salary is £30,000 15 months after graduating.

While this can be taken into consideration, it's also important to think about which university you'll enjoy the most or get the most out of - it's a really transformative period, so try to inform your decision on various factors. For me, looking at module structure, location, societies, teaching methods ect. really helped me to make a decision on where I wanted to study. 😊

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions!
