Good morning,
I am currently supporting a student with his Student Finance application and would appreciate some clarification.
The student originally applied for a Foundation Degree in Business Management for the October 2025 intake. Due to personal circumstances and an inability to attend at that time, he deferred his course to the February 2026 intake.
The university and course remain the same; only the intake/start date changed.
He completed a CO1 form to notify Student Finance of the change (course/intake only).
However, he has since received an email from Student Finance stating that the application could not be completed because the university name was not provided. We were under the impression that as the institution had not changed, selecting “change of course only” would be sufficient.
Could you please confirm:
When completing a CO1 form for a deferral (same university, same course, new intake), is it mandatory to re-enter the university details?
Student Finance has advised that the university must complete a “course transfer task.” The student has contacted the university multiple times and has been informed that this is not possible and that they will not submit a transfer request.
The student is now attending classes regularly and is understandably anxious to have his Student Finance in place.
Could you please advise on the correct process in this scenario?
Thank you in advance for your support.
