Today is Pancake day - what do you have on your pancakes?

Everybody I've spoken to at work today said lemon and sugar. I have chocolate spread or strawberry jam on mine.

How about you all? :awesome:

No pancakes for me today but I usually go for either Nutella or blueberries and syrup :awesome:
I had pancakes for lunch with my sister (first time I have had pancakes on Pancake Day in many years). I had one with chocolate spread, one with lemon and sugar and one with golden syrup.
I just saw a picture from my friend of some biscoff topped pancakes!

Since today is also Lunar New Year, I'll be having crispy aromatic duck pancakes this evening :awesome:
I will be having my usual controversial savoury course of spinach and ricotta first...to be revealed in a bit

But first: is the tester pancake a universal experience?
Forgot to get a photo of the spinach and ricotta so instead have an attempt at me having crunchy Biscoff on my dessert pancake

Savoury pancakes are good for the soul, and spinach and ricotta sounds a great combo :teeth:

Tester pancake as in one that doesn't toss properly/goes wrong? Or tester as in you have to eat one to check they'll come out OK?! :colone:
Classic lemon and sugar. :yep: Though I saw someone somewhere else online mention that orange and sugar was their preference, which I'd be curious to try in future. :hmmmm2:

To make sure the batter is alright and the pan is hot enough!

Classic lemon and sugar for me it's the one combination where the simplicity is actually the point. That said, pancakes are one of those dishes where presentation makes a massive difference to how satisfying they feel to eat. A stack with a bit of height, a good pour of something glossy over the top, and a few contrasting elements (fresh berries, a dusting of icing sugar) looks genuinely great even on a phone camera. The overhead flat-lay angle actually works really well for pancakes since they're a flat dish one of the few foods where the bird's eye shot beats the side angle. Anyone else find that the years you make an effort to plate them properly you actually enjoy eating them more?

Oh no, I have missed the pancake day! normally I add a sweet or saviour topping, so sugar with cinnamon or bacon with mushrooms and cheese.
