UCL Law Resit

I am an international student who received sub-par year 12 equivalent grades and took an Access to HE course to improve my qualifications.

I understand the UCL has a no resit policy for law, but are there instances where applicants get accepted despite "resitting"? How strict is this?

Let's say that I have perfect predicted grades, a decent LNAT MCQ score, essay, personal statement and reference. Is there any chance that UCL will consider my application?

Currently have two offers from Durham and Bristol but two rejection from KCL (resit) and LSE (not consistently high scores).

Hi there,

Congratulations on your two offers! 😊

From what I have researched, it seems that resits for A-levels or equivalent qualifications are not accepted unless the first attempt was significantly impacted by documented, serious extenuating circumstances. Unless this is applicable to you, it does seem unlikely that your application would be considered even despite other factors.

What subject is it that you're looking to study?

If you have any questions about student life at Durham, let me know. 🙂

The issue with resits and Law is that even if a university accepts you, you will find another hurdle down the line when trying to obtain a Training Contract with a law firm. TCs are almost unobtainable with resits on your record.

Thank you for this perspective. Much needed reality check.

In this regard, what do you recommend that I do differently to better bolster my chances in the future?

In all honesty, forget about Law as a first degree and qualify in something where you are more likely to get a job!
