Postgrad loan eligibility

Hi, I’m currently enrolled on an apprenticeship MSc funded through the NHS apprenticeship scheme, I’ve completed some modules but not the whole course and am not sure it’s for me.

If I were to drop out could I apply for a postgrad loan to fund a different MSc?

Hi there. Are you currently receiving a Postgraduate Loan from SFE for the current course? Thanks, Leah.

Hi,

I haven’t personally received any money, it’s funded via my employer, through the apprenticeship levy.

Cheers

Hi there, for to assist you with your query please answer the following questions:

The exact name of the university you are currently at?
What is the exact course title?
Is this a Full Time or Part Time course?
How many years is the course in total?
Are you likely to receive any qualification if you stop your studies?

Thanks, Stephen.

Hi Stephen,

University of Hertfordshire
MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (Degree Apprenticeship) [HSDAACPM]
it’s part time over 3 years
I believe I can exit at year 1 and 2 with a PgCert / Dip

Hi there. Thanks for confirming. If you gain the PgCert/Dip would you be transferring credits over to the new MSc course? When would you be looking to start a new MSc and do you know the name of the new course and how many years this will be? Thanks, Leah.

Hi
I would be looking to do a similar but more focused MSc and not as part of the apprenticeship program. For example I have been looking at the Advanced Paramedic Practice MSc at Hertfordshire. Or Advanced Clinical Practice Critical Care at St George’s. Would be 3 years I assume unless transferring credits would shorten it - haven't really considered those details yet.

Hi adamphilpot,

Advanced Clinical Practice Critical Care isn't on the database to receive SFE support, you would be best checking that one with the university directly to see what support that course attracts.

The Advanced Paramedic Practice MSc at Hertfordshire is eligible for support.

All applicants must be undertaking a full stand alone master's course and not a partial master's course requiring a lesser number of credits as a result of undertaking a previous course. Therefore, they can't transfer credits from a previous course to their master's as this would count as Accredited Prior Learning (APL) and this would mean the course is no longer eligible for a PGM. They therefore must be enrolled on a full master's course to be eligible to receive the PGM.

Thanks, Clare
