Switching Uni’s and SFE

I am currently studying my first year of a health and social degree with Open University. I started Feb 2025 and will be finishing my first year June 2026.
I am now wanting to transfer to Cardiff Met to study social work (either starting in 1st or 2nd year) but I am not sure whether I will be able to get my tuition fees funded.
I also can’t get in touch with a human at SFE so decided to ask on here. Please help!

Hi Millie,

Will you still be studying on a part time basis at the new university? If so, you would amend your application once you reapply for 26/27 (these will go live later in the spring). Thanks, Jason

Hi Millie, is the only year of study you have? do you hold any other previous studies at undergraduate level?

Thanks, this all sounds fine. If you won't receive any qualification for the year you've done then this doesn't count as previous study towards a full-time course.

This means you'll be entitled to funding for the duration of any full-time course.

Thanks, Graeme
