Advice for GCSE english lit and lang

For context I do edexcel english. In my year 11 mocks i got a 6 in english language and a 7 in english literature. these were the full 4 papers. i got high marks in the first questions in the language paper but dropped them all in creative writing (mostly) and transactional(but still got a 7 in paper2) . In english literature, i get high marks in some questions like unseen poetry, but marked down in others.
So my question is how can i improve in these? Obviously, i know to do practice questions but i'm just scared that focussing too much on one thing will drop my grade in other parts so how can i overcome this?

For language I do AQA but what I did for the creative writing is memorise a rough story plan and then adapt it to the prompt. I just went along the lines of a spooky graveyard which gradually builds up in scariness (obv a bit more complex than that). Pretty niche but may help secure marks, exam boards are different but prompts should be similar. Atp there’s barely any time to save the GCSE though so this could work.
