Also whether you're doing a PhD or Masters

I’ll be doing a PhD in psychology and been accepted at Trinity Hall after rejection from St John’s. I’m a mature student and would be great to maybe connect with some other older students.

Hey, do you mind me asking how long it took you to get a rejection from St John’s? I received my offer for the MPhil on 4 February, but my status still says “seeking college membership.” I put St John’s as my first choice.

Have an offer for a PhD in Sociology, and got allocated to Wolfson College! I’m originally from Singapore!

It took about 2 weeks post official offer. I was waiting to see if it said rejected by St John's etc, as that's what it says it will do, but it just went straight to accepted Trinity Hall.

Congratulations! Wolfson was a strong contender for me as a mature postgraduate but I don't need accommodation so I decided to go for an old school Cambridge college.

Congratulations on securing Trinity Hall! It is such a lovely college! If you don’t mind me asking, do you know how you were rejected from St John’s? Did you get an email? I’m still waiting to hear back on my college allocation and I’m dreading the wait!

I'm in the same boat!

St John’s wasn’t mentioned at all. It literally just said accepted at Trinity Hall, which was my safer second option, after going for broke with one of the big 3!

Hi, Darwin is a postgraduate only college and is considered fairly popular among a lot of PG students because of that (at least from what I've heard). It's my second choice on the portal. My reasons for choosing it were (i) it seems to offer on-site accommodation to most of the PG students, (ii) it seems to have a good, tight-knit PG community since it is smaller than the more popular, mixed colleges (which have both undergraduates and postgraduates) and (iii) it's at a very short distance from the department I have applied to as well as from the university library. On top of that, its location is fairly central from what I saw on the virtual map. It also seemed like a safe choice since the acceptance rates were higher than most colleges due to it not being an option for undergraduates.

thanks sooooo much for your reply🥰🥰🥰there would be “significant” construction works on-site for 26/27(said on Darwin accommodation website) so living on-site might be subject to noises. However the off-sites accommodation is also not far from the college itself. It’s also near my department! And I also appreciate the tight-knit community.
