Allied Health Professional Funding

Hi all,
I had previously started an OT degree but left after one term due to the uni not being right for me. I would like to go back and study my degree at a different uni.

Can anyone clarify whether I will be entitled to full funding again as it is an exemption subject? Does it take into account previous study on an exemption course previously? (For context I started a nursing degree a few years ago but only stayed for two weeks before realising it wasn’t the right choice and then applied for OT the following year).

I just don’t want to get my hopes up for a return to studying occupational therapy only to find out I won’t be eligible for funding.
Thanks in advance

Hi there,

If you are not already registered in that field and are changing university, this would be classed as an exception to previous study and equal level qualification rules as it will be considered to be a new course.

Thanks, Clare

Thank you, Clare. So my previous nursing and OT study, even though it was with exemption subjects (and I have a previous degree in law from 2010) won’t count at all? And I will start afresh with regard funding for entry in Sept 2026 for my new course?

Hi Flo_jo81,

Yes, as it is at a different university, for student finance purposes it is classed as a new course, as long as you are not registered in that field and did not obtain the qualification for the previous OT course, then you are eligible.

Thanks, Clare
