Which Film Production course?

Hi,
I can't decide which courses to choose as my first and second options for Film Production - does anyone have any advice?:
1. AUB (reasonable chance at getting grades)
2. Salford Uni (unconditional)
3. Leeds Beckett (unconditional)
I think I want to put AUB first, but I haven't visited Leeds yet. I like Salford, but I'm looking for a practical course rather than too many written assessments. I like AUB because of their facilities, Funding Futures/industry links, and location (I like nature, hiking and camping). But I also want good links with industry so that I can build up my professional experience.
Thank you!
Hi Rolymail,

I would definitely recommend that you go to the offer holder days that each uni puts on. Offer holder days are usually much more in depth than open days as there are less visitors. I know that the Salford Film course put on activities instead of just a talk. Offer holder days generally aim to give an idea of what some of your modules are like, and get a taste of that uni's teaching style.

The other thing I always recommend to people when deciding on which uni to pick is to forget the course. Instead focus on vibes. Can you see yourself living and enjoying your 3 years in that place. Because no matter how good the course is, if you aren't happy in the city/town it's based in then you will likely fall apart. It's so important that you have access to the things you enjoy doing and outlets to relieve stress.

You are correct that industry links are very helpful/important in film. As getting work is very dependent on networking when you first start, so you are smart to look for that in a course.

If you haven't been to Leeds at all yet, I would definitely make sure you do have a look around before making your choice.

Once you have visited all three, really listen to your gut instinct. It can be hard because it's such a big decision so you feel it has to be a logical choice not emotional, but so much changes when you go to uni that you want to make sure its where you feel comfortable. Not just where you logically think you should go.

Hope this helps and feel free to reply to this, or message on the Salford TSR page, if you have any more questions.
