Imperial Contextual Applications

Hello guys,

Im a home student applying for Aero at Imperial with A*A*A* and gcses at 9999888754 (9s include physics), but a really low ESAT average around 3.5 ( i got 4s in my maths modules but physics let me down). Im really anxious about the outcome and keep checking my emails for a potential interview. I was wondering whether there are also students out there with similar stats or a similar ESAT who have received an interview? Also are there any contextual home applicants who have received an interview invite specifically for Aero? I also dont understand this whole batch system, apparently they sending out interview invites in batches??😭 It would be nice if anyone who can relate could drop a message below and hopefully we can all keep each-other updated.

Hi, I'm 1st year aero but just to hopefully give you some information - I had similar A level and GCSE grades but a slightly higher esat (average 5.0), I think also unfortunately most people on aero have similar or higher esat scores, but there are some people with esat similar to yours. I'm not sure about what they do with contextual applications, they might consider lower esat because of this. I believe most interviews will have come out by the end of feb, usually they are a week in advance so you should hear back soon (i think they are all done by mid-march?). Sorry that this isn't much help, but good luck with hopefully getting an offer!

In terms of similar ESAT, do you mean that there are students who study at Imperial who attained a similar score as me?

I'm pretty sure I know a few people on aero as well as other courses at imperial with a similar esat to you, but the majority of people have an average esat of maybe 4.5 and above

Damnn😔😔i appreciate the reply tbh. Im hoping my personal statement is competitive enough and that im eligible for contextual conditions. I feel like id definitely ace an interview if i were offered one.

Fingers crossed! They don't only look at esat though, you have good grades and if your PS was good then they will probably offer you an interview at least.

Yes I believe my personal statement is very strong, it has gotten me offers at my other universities too including Manchester! I will definitely keep you updates. I think if im not wrong, since i am a contextual applicant, i should be eligible for a guaranteed interview.
