Brampton Manor / LAE / NCS 2026 Applicants Thread

Hi everyone!

I thought I’d create a thread for those of us applying to highly competitive sixth forms such as Brampton Manor Academy, London Academy of Excellence (LAE), Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre (NCS), and similar academically selective sixth forms.

The idea is to bring together applicants who are aiming high and are serious about their academic goals.

We could use this space to:
Share predicted grades
Discuss A-Level choices
Share revision strategies
Discuss future aspirations (Oxbridge? Medicine? Law? Finance? etc.)
Update each other on offers

I’ll start:

Predicted Grades
- 999999999998

A-Level Choices
- Further Maths / Maths / Chemistry / Physics

Future Aspirations

Aspiring to pursue a degree at Oxbridge

Engineering/Physics

If you’re applying to any top sixth forms and are aiming for strong academic pathways, feel free to introduce yourself!! ⭐️⭐️

Hello!

Given the time it is currently, you probably won't receive many replies.

Although I haven't explicitly named it 2026 Applicants, there is this thread: https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7646645

Would you like me to merge this post into that thread? :yep:

Hello.I have also applied to LAE Stratford and I live in south east london.
My predicted is:
Maths-8
English lang-8
English lit-9
Bio-9
Chem-9
Physics-9
Re-9
Business-9
History-7
Average point score of best 8- 8.75
I was wondering if this the average grade point for those applying.I was also curious how important location is as I am aware that is considered in conditional offers and I know a majority of those applying live in east london, who are closer to the school. Is location more important than grades in some instances? Thank you for responding if you do.

Hi,
I would say you have above the average grade point for applying, but there isn’t really a published average. You just need to achieve as high as you can.
Location is often important because if the academy is oversubscribed, they often prioritise students who are closer, but for Brampton, I believe they don’t place such high importance on location. Students come from all over London. You still live in East London so don’t worry too much.
No, location is not more important than grades at all! Not in any instance. The higher grades you achieve, the better, regardless of where you live. Because this is what ultimately determines whether you will achieve an offer or not.

I’m pretty sure Brampton also uses location in the case of oversubscription.

Yes they do, but are more lenient.

What was the reasoning behind choosing Maths & Computer Science instead of Economics? I think it is a great decision, but I’m just curious.
Also, I would advise that at University, pick modules like stochastic calculus and probability as they link very well to Quantitative Finance.

Hey everyone!
Predicteds: 999999999
I've applied to the LAES, LAET and Brampton amongst some others (Woodhouse etc), don't want to go Brampton though and would only consider it if for whatever reason I don't get in anywhere else (way too strict for my liking amongst other things). Based in North London, not too far from the area of LAES, Brampton etc though
LAET: Economics (will drop asap), Eng Lit, Politics, Psychology
LAES: Eng Lit, Politics, Psych, if I get accepted I might try add History of Art
Woodhouse: Eng Lit, Psych, Classics
Brampton: Eng Lit, Psych, Politics and Sociology

I'm an aspiring film maker (writer, director and producer), planning on doing either film or media studies at uni (probably media)

Hi,
I applied to LAET as well and got invited to an alignment consultation interview. Have you done yours already or are you part of the 2nd group in March. If you have, how did it go?

I've had my consultation meeting already! It went really well, nice atmosphere during the interview and the interviewer said they'll recommend me for a place. If you've done yours already, how did it go? If you haven't, don't stress, it's nothing insane. Just maybe look at their values and come up with scenarios and experiences you have that fit them so you can talk about it easily if/when asked

Same experience as you and my interviewer said if they would recommend me for a place as well. Everyone at the school is so warm and welcoming.

Good to hear! And yeah I completely agree, all the students and staff I've talked to are really kind and helpful! Seems like a great environment. The only thing I dislike is not being able to leave during lunchtime, but at the end of the day it's not the end of the world, just means LAES is higher on my list
