A-Level options

I'm currently in Year 10 and I'm predicted: 9999999887
I'm honestly pretty certain that I'll take economics, maths and further maths at a level and I'm trying to decide between computer science and physics as my last choice. I'm quite sure that I want to pursue a career in either finance or tech and I most likely will choose a uni course related to both. I really enjoy maths at school so I feel like physics is probably a good choice, but my gut tells me that maybe computer science is the better choice. However, very few "good" sixth forms offer computer science, so I'm honestly not too sure. Anyone have any advice?

Hey @chloe011,

I would read through the specifications of both Computer Science and Physics A-Level to see which one appeals to you most - they're both strong choices and either would complement your current combination.

It might also be worthwhile looking at the entry requirements for any courses you might be interested in studying at university. If you're primarily focusing on courses related to finance and/or tech, most degrees will likely require A-Level Maths (with some universities asking for A-Level Further Maths if provided by your school). Depending on the course, they may not have a specific preference between Physics or Computer Science.

How did you find Physics at GCSE?

Hope this helps,
Eve (Kingston Rep).

Look at the course content for computer science. See which appeals to you the most. Also consider which one you think you will do the best in.
It you want to go into finance or tech, then computer science might be slightly more relevant.

I genuinely really enjoy physics at school, however I often find that I get quite bored. On the other hand, I feel like computer science is much more challenging. So I feel like its honestly a choice between what challenges me and what I find less challenging.

Do you recommend any schools (state or private)?

Schools wise- i only know about the schools/colleges in my area. I wouldnt know about any schools in any other areas (and i dont know which area of the country you live in).
Have a look round your local schools/colleges and see which ones you prefer.
