eating a banana half an hour before is meant to be good for you, well according to channel 4.

How do you know when a banana is meant to be good for you? And how could you time half an hour before that?

Eating food before sleeping is not going to decrease your health and is therefore not 'bad' for you.

it'll make u fat though

Why will it?

Reply 8

Apparently it's something to do with your metabollic rate decreasing when you're asleep. Therefore, more of the energy gets stored as fat instead of being turned into other energy to keep you moving, active etc.

Depends what you're eating.

Depends what you're eating.

well if you're eating high protein food then probably doesn't really matter...but then most food contain fat and carbo anyway so...

besides...i just can't sleep after eating...too uncomfy...

i always get in at 12 midnight - 1am every night during the week and eat dinner at that time. usually beans/pasta/bread/cheesy stuff/chili and nothing bad happens to me. maybe if u eat alot, get indigestion. often canot eat brekkie

I try to make the rule of not eating after 7pm latest to allow my digestive system to sttle before i go to bed and burn of any calories before sleep. I dont think there is any particular rule of thumb. Go with what is best for you. If you have a fast metabolic rate then don't worry, if it is slow then think first as you could be storing unnecessary fats.

I was always told it was because the digestive system will be active when you're trying to sleep is this correct?
You should ideally stop consuming foods (esp carbs) after 8pm... I usually make this 10  Lol, as I don't go to sleep until quite late, but since uni's started up for me now...

yep, I'll have to make that 8pm again, and start getting to sleep earlier! But yeah, back to the topic - it's not good for the metabolism if you eat too late. Healthier to eat a large breakfast, medium lunch and small dinner if you can

Its all *******s, at the end of the day, its about the total calories you eat in a day, if you have only eaten 2000 calories in a day, but used 3000, then it is going to make the blindest bit of difference if you eat before you go to bed.
