Bsc economics at LSE without FM

Hi everybody, I was wondering if there was a chance of me getting into LSE for economics without having Further maths. I Have maths comp sci and economics. Although i am trying to make up for it with gold UKMT and online moocs? Is there any point of me applying?

LSE doesnt 'require' further maths only if your school doesn't offer it. If your school offers Further Maths and you do not take it as a subject, no point applying afaik, however this isnt true if your school physically does not offer further maths in which case you should make this very clear in your teacher reference.

If your sixth form or college offers A-Level Further Maths and you did not select it as a fourth A-Level, then you will be rejected. Because my cousin applied to Cambridge, LSE, UCL, KCL and Durham and got offers from UCL, KCL and Durham but chose UCL for BSc Economics. Cambridge and the LSE rejected her based on not offering A-Level Further Maths despite it being an option at her sixth form.

So, Cambridge and LSE are big no no's. ☹️ However, Warwick, UCL, KCL, QMUL, SOAS, City, Durham, York, Nottingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Bath are all fine without A-Level Further Maths.

Warwick I believe dont require further maths in the same way that Cambridge and LSE do, they just require a decent TMUA score to prove that your good enough at maths

Yes, for Warwick Economics A-Level Further Maths is optional but the content of A-Level Further Maths features pretty early on in the Warwick Economics degree.

PS: I've edited my post for future applicants with the same discussion points. 😛

with all of these top economics universities that say you don't 'need' further maths, they mean that you don't need it as a qualification, however they expect you to be further maths A/A* standard by the time the course starts as that is essential for the course.

I believe LSE states that if your school doesn't offer FM your referee should explain this in their reference so as to ensure you are not disadvantaged by virtue of being unable to take it. The implication of this seems to be that if your school does offer it and you don't take it is that you would be less competitive.
