Help a girl for her gcse out beware long paragraph

For more context here I’m in yr10 so I have my GCSEs next year. You all may wonder what I’m doing here but to give more background I just moved like about months ago to the uk so I’m new to everything including the academic system. I’m not here to just get a few simple tips because I’ve gone around personally asking people but it just simply keeps confusing me and overwhelming me. On top of that during the e course of of four months barely mind you I didn’t start on September a month later but I’ve changed two schools as well so when I’m feeling that I’ve settled in or I know a bit of the context well I moved to another school now I’m genuinely so lost and overwhelmed that I can’t do anything the subjects

I’ve picked apart from the core including religious studies is triple science resistant material design technology media studies and a language Spanish

I was doing French for like what two months in my old school but apart from that I have no done any other language all my core years were don’t in a different curriculum and different school and different country so I’m new to the academic system and how they revise here because I’m used to something else but for the language I’ve asked my teacher to maybe not let me do any language because I didn’t start anything from year seven and I might not able to catch up in general till next year but I think it might get refused so I’ll have to revise Spanish as well sadly it’s fifty fifty but apart from that EVEYRHTING is just sad and overwhelming I don’t know where to start and you know how some schools start at year ten the school I’m going to started at year nine so

I missed like a ton and everyone around me is locked in like everyone is super smart because they’re used to the way they study and revise even if I don’t pay attention I want to revise self study it doesn’t help because I’m used to reading and the same questions coming up like it’s different I didn’t really use critical thinking back because that’s how the system was but here I do I revise the thing the content but in the actual exam it test yes the topic comes but in a different question like you just don’t expect it I’ve been flopping really bad I just need help I’ve asked a lot of people but all they tell me or give me resources or do past papers like I don’t GENUINELY HAVE NO IDEA WHADT TO DO WHAT HEERE

TO START OR LIKE A ROUTINE IM ALREADY BURNT

And I really want to pursue something in the medical field but looking at this I can’t :frown: ) help a girl out yall

If you’re like me having to start a new system at year ten or near GCSEs help me out share you ideas and tips and if you made it till here the thank you for reading and yea really appreciate it

Heya, sorry that it has been so overwhelming for you - I do A-Level Spanish, so fingers crossed I can help you with Spanish the most, but I will try to give you some general advice too.

Each of your subjects may have a different company that makes your exam papers! These companies are called Exam Boards. It's important to find out what Exam Boards your school uses for each subject you take! This is because the best way to revise for your GCSEs is to go to the websites of the Exam Board and do their old released papers on the subjects you do - so you can see what you might be asked! It also means that you can find textbooks and resources for your subjects easier

I will use Spanish as an example!

For Spanish, my school used the AQA Exam Board. I then bought the Textbook for AQA GCSE Spanish, and read through the whole thing. It told me a few things: What topics can be brought up in the exam (for example, celebrations, personal information, food), what vocabulary I need to learn, and how changing verbs to fit with past, present and future tense works!

My favorite way to revise vocabulary was with a 5 minute Quizlet practice on my way to school every morning! It is a flashcard app that you can use for free, and I found a school that has a folder with all the GCSE Spanish Vocabulary you could possibly need: Quizlet Link! Otherwise, practice writing simple sentences in spanish ^^

The best free resources that you can use to study by yourself are usually on YouTube!!! I personally used these guys for each core subject, they have playlists of all the knowledge you need to know for your GCSEs:
Englishes - MrBruff
Maths - HegartyMaths
Science - Freesciencelessons

And I am certain there are other YouTubers that can also help with your other subjects!
In terms of when to revise and how, slowly chipping away at these YouTube videos and writing notes are really good, then practice is the next best thing to do. I know the school day can be quite packed at year 10 level, especially with homework, so please do not be worried too much! Year 11 is much more impactful, and you do have time to catch up in the summer holidays if you really need.

It's not much, but I hope this was helpful! You can do this <3

Hey! I was in a similar position I moved to the uk in year 10 they did give me an option to do MFL but I decided to pass
I instead did another gcse option (they let me do it as I was getting 100%in business consistently and I decided to self study business and attend econ lessons) and our school makes the students who are not doing language a mandatory btech
I get what you are going through and it can be really overwhelming, however math and science should be easier to catch up use pmt website to find papers and topic questions for the exam board you are doing also you can use save my exams they have good notes
Focus really well in the lessons that’s the key!!
English could be a bit difficult (it still is for me I hate it😭) but there are some amazing yt channels
You can ask more questions as I don’t know exactly what advice you need

I moved to the UK in Year 8, mid-term, so I've got some tips which may or may not be helpful, depending on how similar we are.
First and foremost, having set targets might help as it shows progress and also gives you a clear path. If you want to pursue medicine, you will probably need a 6 or above in Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics (depending on the branch of medicine) to get into A-level courses. Focus on this for now because while you need to pass English and Maths for well... anything, really, focusing on the science subject that you require will be most beneficial.
Again, this is if you're sure you want to pursue medicine. Otherwise, I'd advise you to focus on Maths and English for now as these are the subjects you need to retake unless you pass. Most sixth-forms and colleges require you to have 4-5 GCSEs with a 9-4 grade. So, 4-5 subjects in which you have passed (4 is the minimum passing grade, 5 is a standard pass).
Moreover, with subjects like Biology, memorising information is the best course of action. Find the exam board of your school, go to its website, and look up the past papers. Most people would tell you to look at the question papers, but I find it easier to just memorise the mark scheme (for subjects like Bio; it would never work for Maths).
Also, websites like Quizziz (recently renamed as Wayground), Century, Kerboodle, Cognito, Sparx, Seneca, SaveMyExams help loads but some might require your school to be linked. PMT is amazing for English annotations (Tip: Find your book/play and do the Edexcel annotations -- they're usually more detailed).
In conclusion, set targets, find out exam boards, visit the sites, look at past papers/mark schemes, websites, and remember that you can always ask your teachers and/or friends for help.
