How was Rs GSCE ( Please put your exam board in ur answer x)

I'm pretty confident I wanna do RS but many people are saying it requires alot of writing and too much content so i'm leading more on the no side a little but i still really want to take it.
P.S my school does christianity and buddism (+ ethics n stuff) for RS. Any answers are helpful thanks!

Hi there! My school made us study RS, so I didn't get a choice

I did Eduqas GCSE RS, studying Christianity and Sikhism. I enjoyed the philosophy and ethics the most. There is a lot of writing, it is an essay based subject and there is a fair amount of content. I wouldn't say it was any more or any less than any other subject I did - I sat GCSEs nearly four years ago though.

ocr - i really liked rs i didn't find it hard at all and found the exam technique very learnable and predictable which made the exams easier. i definitely think there is a fair amount of content though, at least for my exam board! i think it was worth it though, it just comes down to memorisation which i actually preferred as once you knew the content you could be pretty confident you would score highly in the exam rather than some more unpredictable subjects where even knowing all the content like the back of your hand wouldn't be enough! even though it is an essay subject it didn't feel like the essays needed to be particularly stylistic like in english, as long as they were structured/you followed something like PEEL and kept your answers relevant they weren't that bothered about your quality of writing, more the content, at least for my exam board, which made it even more focused on mainly memorisation!

You can look at past papers on the exam board website to see what is required.

Yes but them you can see if there are long questions or short one - people will only know about their board and you havent said which one you are taking. My friend marks for AQA RS.

Hi I did AQA RS Christianity and Buddhism and got a 9 of you still have any questions. It was one of my favourite GCSEs as i didn’t find revision stressful and i personally think the content is not that difficult to understand 💕

Thanks! The CGP text book is really useful to get the content from, then I’d suggest making flashcards either physical ones or on Quizlet after finishing each topic in school so when it comes to exams you’ve got resources. To learn content I like making mind maps and asking someone to test you with your flashcards.
Also learning how to actually answer the questions is very important so practice the 4,5 and 12 markers and have a teacher mark them so you can perfect your structure.(probably do this more in year 11, in year 10 just stay organised and pay attention in lessons).

Don’t be put off by being told you need to know tons of quotes/scripture I found that I only needed around 10 for each religion and could apply them differently.

Hope this helps, good luck!
