University of East Anglia September 2026 Intake

Hi everyone!
I’ll be joining UEA in September 2026 for MSc Management.

I’m currently looking into accommodation options and would really appreciate any suggestions regarding student housing, areas to consider, or things to avoid.

Also happy to connect with anyone from the same course or intake 😊

Hi! @anshikkaa.g 🙂
It's great you've started to look early for accommodation!
If you are considering UEA accommodation, you can look at UEA's accommodation finder online which will have details about the accommodation types available.
If you are looking to rent outside of UEA, you can have a look at the student union website. They have lots of information including:

Advice for finding roommates, if applicable

Information about your rights when renting

Green and red flags when viewing houses

Current ads for housing and much more!

If you have your student details already you can log in straight away, if not you can make a guest account.
If you are struggling to find housemates, you can look at online platforms as people usually post there too.
There are multiple areas you can look at, you can choose to live closer to UEA or in between UEA and Norwich city centre. It all comes down to your preferences and budget.
Hope this helps! 🙂
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi there!

I can see Fatma has already replied to this with some really useful advice!

There are lots of accommodation options for Norwich! Are you looking to live in campus/student accommodation (e.g. multiple people in a flat, typical student accommodation), or are you wanting a shared house? If this is your first year at university, I'd suggest living in student accommodation, especially on campus, it makes getting your lectures easier, and helps you get a great feel for the campus! It also gives you lots of opportunities to make new friends too! The campus options are nice, because they mean that you're surrounded by green space as well, with easy access to lots of nature areas.

I lived in private student accommodation in Norwich city centre during my first two years of university (Crown place and Benedicts gate), and I really enjoyed both places. I know there are a couple of other options for living in the city too (St Crispins and Pablo Fanque). These can offer the same student accommodation feel, but are really good if you want to feel a bit more removed from campus, or enjoy the city life! They're typically more expensive, but the rooms in a lot of them are bigger. They can also feel more independent, which I know some people enjoy.

After living in student accommodation, I moved into a shared house with friends, this is something that most people will do in the 2nd year of their degree, and I absolutely loved it, and I know lots of my friends and peers did too! I lived in the Cadge road area, which was a bit noisy for me personally. I know others who have lived in the golden triangle (Earlham road), which is nice, the houses can be smaller, and there isn't much access to parking. The avenues is very popular, the houses are often very spacious, but require a lot of people (some of them are 6+ bedrooms!). Three score and Bowthorpe have a lot of student houses, these can be cheap, and the area is really nice, close to lots of fields, but it is a little further away from campus

It's often easier to find houses for 4/5 people, I had a hard time finding a house for 3. The more people, the cheaper it is per person on average. Also consider how far away you are from campus, and from the buildings you will likely be in from lectures, whether the house is on a bus route (the 25, 26 and 26A run through campus, and the 21 runs close to it), if you're living on a main road, and proximity to the shops!

If you want to know any more about any specific areas or accommodations, or even just my experiences, please let me know! I'm happy to help- hopefully this was useful!
