Can I get a masters loan (and maintenance) if I had an extra year at uni?

I went to uni for a semester a while ago and dropped out because I didn’t enjoy my course.

I’m back at uni now doing a 3 year UG and I’m starting to think about applying for my masters. Will I get a loan if I already did an extra semester and got a loan for it?

Someone I know who did a masters said they had to pay out of pocket because they did the same as me but others say it’s a separate loan so I won’t have to do that?

Also would I get a maintenance loan or would I have to pay rent OOP too?

Im doing a degree where I need a masters or I won’t be able to go into any relevant careers. Any advice would be great

If it is a stand-alone masters course (not an integrated masters), then you apply for the postgraduate master's loan. Your extra year of undergraduate study won't impact your entitlement to this.

The current funding is one payment of £12,858 per course. If it is a 2-year masters, you will receive half this amount each year. You decide what you spend it on - tuition fees, accomm, food, etc. It's not adequate to cover everything if you will be living away from home, and many of the more academic unis charge close to this for tuition fees alone.
