Oxford MPhil/DPhil in Economics 2026

Has anyone received an offer for MPhil or MPhil+DPhil or DPhil in Economics? I submitted my application in early January and haven't heard back yet. Anyone know roughly when they will make a decision?

Offers went out end of first week of March in the last two admissions cycles for the standalone MPhil. I believe that is the earliest we should hear from them this year as well.

I would think that given that the final deadline is tomorrow, it would still take quite some time before those having applied in January hear back as they want to have also considered those applying by tomorrow. Or is this situation the same as it was in the last two years?

I think last year the final deadline was 4-Mar-2025, and they released the decisions on 5-Mar-2025?

Let's hope that's the case this year as well then, then some decisions should be coming tomorrow

Official website updated the date for offer holder event day this year, 18th March, earlier than last year which was 20th March. Given past offer holder dates are usually set as 2 weeks after the offer day, I would expect informal offers to come out at around 6pm this afternoon or tomorrow at latest.

I do believe the interval of 2 weeks is set to give offer holders time to make arrangement for attending the offer holder event.

Hi can I ask if the admission office still works at 6pm? Last year the unofficial offer was sent at around 5:15. Not sure if we still have to wait today:smile:

in 2024 informal offers were sent out at 18:05. But I don’t think they will be still working after 6:30 or 7 pm at latest.

Good luck to all of you! I applied to a different department with Jan 27th deadline. It seems like you guys are learning quite early than 8 weeks, is that correct?

Also, does this mean all your ‘upload’ buttons have disappeared at this point?

Thanks! The last few years people got an e-mail with an informal offer from the Department before they got an actual offer in the Applicant Portal, so the upload button hasn't disappeared (at least for me) either.

I see. Thanks for sharing! I really hope I hear back soon, too. I know the wait is so painful. Almost there!

Oxford is the last university I'm waiting to hear back from. Really hope we hear back from them in the next 24 hours so I can finally put my heart and mind to ease.

Do they send offers and rejections at the same time?
