Harper Adams Vet Med

Hi, I've had an email to say that I'm not being offered a place on the VetMed course, but as my interview score "fell just below the cut-off point for an offer", I can (if I wish) br placed on a waiting list, and/or I could look to finding an alternative course and transferring onto that. My question though, is that one of the courses that they recommend is the Veterinary BioScience, but, when I look at the information on the website it says that entries are now closed. However, as this is a 'transfer', not a new entry, do you think they have some places 'held' for students like me in this particular situation? Has anyone done this course, what was it like?

There are three vet bio programmes at Harper Adams, excluding foundation year programme.

"Veterinary Bioscience (with access to Veterinary Medicine)" has early deadline and they don't accept late applications. Plus it doesn't not appear in clearing. It's pretty much Vet med foundation year, but named weirdly

"Veterinary Bioscience (accelerated programme)" is a new programme that's meant to be 2 years long and it's more tailored for those who want to do vet med as second degree. I don't know if it appear in clearing. Tbh, I don't know a lot about it.

"Veterinary Bioscience (with placement)" is a normal programme and it appears in clearing.

You might be able to transfer to the third VetBio, but I am not exactly sure. I would contact the university and potentially wait for clearing. But just be warned that the chance of getting into vet med is low as requirements are high and you would be competing with other students.

Hi, You might want to review the information here https://www.harperkeelevetschool.ac.uk/study/430/how-to-apply/

Access via other animal science degrees at Harper Adams University
Students completing year 1 of the following awards at Harper Adams, with a minimum pass rate of 70% and subject to results of the Multi-Mini Interview assessment, can also progress on to the BVetMS. Up to 5 students will be accepted for transfer into Year 1 of the Vet School on this basis. Candidates will be ranked by performance and the top five will be eligible to progress.

Veterinary Bioscience (the standard four-year programme) is one of these courses and it sounds like you would be a candidate to access the vet school this way. 🙂

[The foundation year programme is closed because places are strictly limited. The accelerated programme was designed for students to progress onto a postgraduate vet med programme, but it is not running this year. ]

Good luck!
