2nd year transfer? - computer science UoE to NTU

Hi, I am heavily debating transferring from the University of Exeter to Nottingham Trent University to continue my studies in year 2, but would like some outside opinions!

The main reasons I'm debating transferring are being closer to family and that I dont really like Exeter as a city. Overall I haven't enjoyed my time at uni too much.

I'm wondering how different post-grad options would be at NTU compared to if I stayed at Exeter and if it's better just toughing out 2 more years to get my degree here instead. I know NTU is lower ranked and not an RG uni, but just how much does that affect things like postgraduate courses and job offers?

Before I answer your questions, have you asked NTU if they accept second-year transfers?

Yes I have, they said they do if the modules are similar, which they seem to be for Exeter!

What matters for work/postgrad options once you graduate, is a good degree (2.1 or above) and work experience. If you get the opportunity to take a placement year at NTU, do it. In the current graduate job market, having work experience on your graduate CV is key to securing a job.
