A level Maths mock

I do Edexcel and I'm doing my mocks atm I got my paper 1 pure back and I got 68 percent I normally get 80 percent so this was very unexpected I did my paper 2 today and it also didn't go to well I'm normally better in pure than applied so I already know applied isn't going to go well either. Is it realistic for me to get an A*? What would you predict A* to be? 90 percent? Are mock set papers from Edexcel harder than the real exam? And how to I not run out of time, I always run out of time in mocks but at home I always finish on time, I also feel like pmt questions are a lot easier so anything other than madasmaths for harder papers?

Mocks are conducted by each school independently, so your teachers will decide whether to curve it or place set percentage thresholds. An A* is never 90% though, and besides, who cares? These are mocks. Reflect on your mistakes and come back stronger in your next exam.

Hey @champignon69,

Building on the response above, you can check official grade boundaries on the Edexcel website. Last year (2025), an A* in Edexcel A-Level Mathematics was 258/300 and an A was 214/300. Whilst you can naturally expect there to be some variation year on year, previous grade boundaries do provide you with a good general overview of where you want to be working at to achieve a certain grade.

Hope this helps and best of luck,
Eve (Kingston Rep).
