Brighton Cost of Living.

Hi everyone, I recently got an offer to study at Brighton, and I wanted to learn more about the general cost of living(rent, gas, electricity, transport etc.), and whether it would be better to live in halls or try and find private accomodation. Please give me approximate numbers if you want to.
I heard Brighton is one of the cheapest places to live but I would like to hear from people who actually live there.
Thanks.

Brighton is not cheap to live in at all. It is one of the more expensive places to live in the UK. I went to the University of Sussex, which is in Brighton so I can comment from that side of things.

The best thing you can do is look at the different halls Brighton Uni offers and compare it to other accommodation in Brighton. Bills will be included in the uni halls which won't necessarily be the case in private accommodation.

Hi @MamSathew24

Congratulations on your offer with Brighton Uni!!

As Flowersinmyhair mentioned Brighton is an expensive city to live in. However, at the uni we have lots of opportunities for students to make money while they study and also offer financial support.

We have a really helpful webpage on budgeting for student life which breaks down the cost of our halls of accommodation vs private renting, and also other day-to-day living costs.

You can view details here of our Brighton Boost which can possibly help with halls costs, travel, parking, laptop loans and flexible part-time work.

I hope this is helpful. 🙂
