TSR Book Club 2026

📚 Welcome to TSR Book Club 2026!📚

Hello! This is a space for all of you book worms out there to discuss and talk books in general, as well as your reading goals and any book that you've read and liked - or hated!

First, a few questions to get us started:

1. How many books do you want to read in 2026?
2. What is your favourite genre of books?
3. What book are you currently reading / what book did you last read?

I'll start first:
1. I want to read 52 books (one a week for the year)
2. Classics and Fantasy
3. Been doing a lot of reading for my degree recently so I've been balancing that with Percy Jackson.

And now quoting everyone from the 2025 Book Club!!

Hello!

1.

I want to read 52 books this year (one for each week). I have currently read 6 books, so am 2 books behind.

2.

Non fiction books, especially memoirs, history and medical books.

3.

I am currently reading Shapeshifters by Gavin Francis.

1. How many books do you want to read in 2026?
I am not giving myself a challenge as it went quite badly for me last time I did it so I am just going to try to read as much as I can! My record is 45 books but it was very forced :s-smilie:
Currently I've read 5 books already this year which isn't too bad! :yy:

2. What is your favourite genre of books?
Probably thriller/mystery/detective/sci-fi and also non-fiction/biography
To be honest I don't have a favourite as I will give anything a go, I just find fantasy quite difficult sometimes

3. What book are you currently reading / what book did you last read?
Currently reading "Thinking, Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman and "SPQR" by Mary Beard :woo:
With this reply I join this society. I answer the questions later when I get the time for it.
Hello all!

Thank you so much @Scotland Yard for setting up this thread. I need a space that helps me stay accountable, especially because I set ambitious reading goals that I rarely achieve.

1. How many books do you want to read in 2026?
I would like to read at least 10 books. It may be a modest target, but I want it to be genuinely achievable so I can build momentum, rather than setting an ambitious goal and not reaching it.

2. What is your favourite genre of books?
I only read non-fiction and classical literature. I will give anything a go within non-fiction.

3. What book are you currently reading / what book did you last read?
I have not really read for pleasure since finishing my degree, but now I am starting with The Royal Palace of Madrid. It explores the palace's history and gives a detailed explanation of each room and its significance.

Finally I got thet time to answer your questions:

1.) A dozen of books, but that is not realistic. Try at least to finish one.
2.) Classic. Still classic. No matter what original language (Preference: German and English).
3.) None so far / The firm by John Grisham
1) I've set a Goodreads challenge of 42 for this year, but I feel like 50 might be achievable if I maintain my current rate.
2) I'm mainly a non-fiction person, and a big fan of history and travel writing, but I also am getting into detective fiction and slowly making my way through the works of Agatha Christie!
3) Currently I am reading A History of Britain in Ten Enemies by Terry Deary. It's sort of adult Horrible Histories and I'm not sure how I feel about it so far...

1.

hmm I'm not too sure - I want to finish my tbr (75...) but I don't think I have enough time to - hopefully after gcses I can have lots of time to read, but the break is only 10 weeks (however I did once read 6 books in a day and 27 in a month, so maybe I can read lots during those 10 weeks?)

2.

probably fantasy, crime and romance

3.

currently reading black holes by brian cox and jeff forshaw, I'm only 28 pages in because I have to take notes when I read it to understand it, and I can only really read 3 pages at a time before my brain reaches its limit

Hats off to you for reading so much :hat2:

That is, you know, about two books per day, how much time do you spend reading per day?

Oh god i spent so much hours a day reading, i normally start at 9:00-15:00 and then at 21:00-3:00. I dont really have a tight sleep schedule so i read when i can. Sometimes i read 4-3 books in a day and then take like a month break because i read so much. But the hours kind of fly by when you read.

I am reading this huge book on self-determination and autonomy. It’s very academic and theoretical. It doesn’t help that it’s outside my field.

If I finish this book this year, I’d be happy (and much wiser!📖🧑*🏫
I recently finished Shapeshifters and I mostly liked it

I am now reading This Way Up: When Maps Go Wrong (and why it matters) by Mark Cooper-Jones and Jay Foreman

Spoiler

I am also reading Life, Death and Biscuits by Anthea Allen, which I have got from my local library as an e-book on my Kobo.
1. How many books do you want to read in 2026?
I have set a goal of 40, but I am already on 10 so may need to increase the goal later in the year!

2. What is your favourite genre of books?
Generally sci-fi/dystopia or fantasy.

3. What book are you currently reading / what book did you last read?
I am re-reading Rachel Caine's Morganville Vampires series, which I loved as a young teen and which I am enjoying again over 10 years later!
