Loan for international student at City St Georges

Helllo! I’m an international student currently looking for some advice on student loans. I’m planning to apply for my uni’s 50% scholarship, but since that only covers the first year, I need to find a solid loan provider to help me get through the rest of my degree. Does anyone have recommendations for reliable lenders that work well for international students? Any tips would be a huge help!"

Hello,

My name is Yulia, and I am an international student from Bulgaria. I study BSc Psychology at City St George’s in London. Before applying to universities in the UK, my parents and I were worried about the high fees for international students in London.
Thankfully, in my first year I was awarded the President’s International Scholarship (let me know if this is the scholarship you are referring to), which is a 50% scholarship for the first year of university available to international students. I was really happy, and my parents were glad that I could help them financially.
You can have a look at the website here: https://www.citystgeorges.ac.uk/prospective-students/finance/funding/presidents-international-scholarship
As far as I know, international students cannot get UK government student loans at City St George’s, University of London. However, you could get a part-time job alongside your studies. It probably won’t be enough to cover your tuition fees, but you can still help your parents financially.
For example, I am an Events and Marketing Student Ambassador, which allows me to work and study at the same time. You can apply for multiple positions as long as you can manage your studies. Good luck with your application, and let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hello again!

I did not apply for a loan; I applied for City St George’s President’s International Scholarship in June: https://www.citystgeorges.ac.uk/prospective-students/finance/funding/presidents-international-scholarship
I also started applying for jobs as soon as I moved to London, which was in September.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
