Hi everyone,
I’d really appreciate some honest advice because I’m struggling to decide between universities.
I’m currently doing an International Foundation Year in Social Sciences and Humanities at Royal Holloway, University of London, with the goal of studying LLB Law. I’m performing around the 70% range so far.
I have an offer for Law at the University of Exeter (Streatham campus), which requires a 70% overall with no mark below 60%. Royal Holloway progression requires an overall score of 70%.
I’m trying to decide whether to:
• Stay at Royal Holloway — familiar environment, supportive community, London location, possibly easier to maintain high grades
• Go to Exeter — Russell Group, stronger global reputation, more academic challenge, but higher pressure and new environment
My long-term goals include strong career prospects and possibly postgraduate study abroad (maybe US/LLM route), so academic performance and reputation both matter to me.
What would you choose and why?
Is Exeter worth the move from Royal Holloway for Law?
How different is the academic pressure and support in Year 1?
Would staying where I might perform better be smarter?
Any experiences with either university (especially Law) would really help.
Thanks!
