royal holloway vs exeter law

Hi everyone,

I’d really appreciate some honest advice because I’m struggling to decide between universities.

I’m currently doing an International Foundation Year in Social Sciences and Humanities at Royal Holloway, University of London, with the goal of studying LLB Law. I’m performing around the 70% range so far.

I have an offer for Law at the University of Exeter (Streatham campus), which requires a 70% overall with no mark below 60%. Royal Holloway progression requires an overall score of 70%.

I’m trying to decide whether to:

Stay at Royal Holloway familiar environment, supportive community, London location, possibly easier to maintain high grades
Go to Exeter Russell Group, stronger global reputation, more academic challenge, but higher pressure and new environment

My long-term goals include strong career prospects and possibly postgraduate study abroad (maybe US/LLM route), so academic performance and reputation both matter to me.

What would you choose and why?
Is Exeter worth the move from Royal Holloway for Law?
How different is the academic pressure and support in Year 1?
Would staying where I might perform better be smarter?

Any experiences with either university (especially Law) would really help.

Thanks!

I'd go to Exeter as it's far better known for Law. It's a beautiful campus with a wide range of accommodation. Why not go to an Offer Holders day or view the online tour?

Thanks, I appreciate your perspective. I agree Exeter has a strong reputation for Law and the campus does look great. My hesitation is more personal I’m currently at Royal Holloway and really value the community and familiarity there, so it’s not just about rankings for me. I’m trying to weigh academic signalling against where I think I’d perform best.
I’m definitely considering attending an Offer Holder Day to get a better feel for it in person. That might make the decision clearer.

Hi, I’d really appreciate some advice.
I’m currently doing a foundation year at Birkbeck and I have offers to study Law (LLB) at both Birkbeck and Royal Holloway.
I’m based in London and Birkbeck is more convenient (central + evening classes), but I’m unsure about its reputation and opportunities compared to Royal Holloway.
For those studying law or who have experience:
Which one would you choose and why (especially for career prospects in London)?
Thanks a lot
